Dear Friend of Magnolia Tree Earth Center,
All environmental indicators tell us that global warming is real and will have consequences for our children and grandchildren. Now more than ever, we must prepare our young people for the environmental economy coming up all around us. Will you join us?
Magnolia Tree Earth Center of Bedford Stuyvesant, founded by Ms. Hattie Carthan, is the oldest African American-founded environmental center in New York State.
Ms. Carthan, a visionary and neighborhood resident for many years, founded the center at age 72 as the realization of her dream of a “communiversity.” This communiversity would promote the social, cultural and character development of neighborhood children and families through education around and awareness of natural sciences and the environment.
We have to fix the building facades immediately or we will lose our amazing Brownstones to the city!!!! Please give what you can.
Your gift will help the Magnolia Tree Earth Center maintain its environmental complex of three brownstones dating from the late 1800's into the 21st century - creating new opportunities for the Bed-Stuy community we serve. As Ms. Carthan saved New York City's only living landmark, the Magnolia Grandiflora fronting our building, you can help save the environment and this community institution.
To make a gift online today, click our gofundme link, our paypal donate now link or mail a check made out to Magnolia Tree Earth Center of Bedford Stuyvesant, Inc. to the address below.
Will you grow Ms. Carthan’s dream taller and stronger with a gift of $25, $50, or any amount?
Thank you for considering a contribution to our cause, and best wishes for a joyous Earth Day.
